Breathing new life into pre-loved wood, AdrianMartinus are masters at crafting handmade furniture, interior installations and creative objects. This month, rediscover the art of craftsmanship with our addition in the Willow Park Village Pop-up Series.
Who is AdrianMartinus?
Calgary-based woodworking duo, Adrian and Martinus Pool are brothers pursuing their inherited craft by creating modern, sustainable furniture out of recycled wood. The brothers were initially inspired through their love for skateboarding and their desire to repurpose the wood that was being discarded with used skateboard decks. The innovative carpenters got to work and in 2014 they opened their own woodworking shop.
The Ultimate in Upcycling
AdrianMartinus‘ pieces open onto a creative world where a skateboard can transform into a bowl, cutting board, or even a dinning room table. Now that’s a conversation piece! Using wood from a variety of locations including aged grain towers, gymnasium flooring and old skateboards, the brothers have developed a technique that allows them to reuse every piece they find to create something new. These brothers are true masters of their craft in understanding design, functionality and sustainability.
Built With Intention
With Martinus’ aesthetic eye and Adrian’s sharp attention to detail, both brothers’ distinctive artistic personalities translate into their furniture designs. From harvest table to rustic cheese board, every piece tells a colourful story and comes with an inherent sense of history. AdrianMartinus’ handcrafted designs are sure to provide stand out pieces for your home.
