It’s an age-old cliché for a reason – the start of a new year often accompanies a renewed commitment to putting yourself first. As a mom, I’m so busy making sure that my kids are happy, healthy and wherever they need to be that I sometimes forget to take care of myself.
That being said, one of my resolutions for 2017 is to set aside more ‘me-time’, whether that means running errands I’ve been procrastinating on for weeks or finally treating myself to a little pamper session. I decided to start 2017 off on the right foot and focus on my well-being and happiness – and Willow Park Village allows me to do just that!
I must admit that I’m fairly diligent when it comes to keeping up with my annual health check-up and teeth cleaning, it’s those other (equally important) appointments that sometimes get tossed aside. So I finally decided to stop by Eyeclectic Eyewear to have my eyes tested and browse the new collections.
Next, I headed over to Harp Hearing Care, where I had my hearing tested for free! Plus, since my husband is the loudest snorer ever, I also picked up some heavy duty ear plugs – the more sleep for me, the better!
When it comes to fitness, I sometimes lack the motivation to get to the gym. 9Round Fitness offers 30-minute full body workouts, and with no set class times, it’s perfect for my ever-changing schedule. For once, I actually look forward to working out!
Don’t forget that your skin needs a workout too. My new favourite skincare ritual is Skoah’s fitskin facial – it cleanses, tones, exfoliates, treats AND hydrates my skin in under an hour. Plus, the fact that it’s 45 minutes of uninterrupted bliss and relaxation is an added perk!
A day to yourself isn’t quite complete without a little pampering. I always like to kick-off the new year with a new ‘do’, so I made an appointment at Willow Park Salon and Spa for a cut and colour. But who knows, maybe I’ll even get my nails done while I’m at it…
