It’s that time of year again! Yes, Stampede starts this week and no one could be more excited than I am. I love Stampede – I love the energy in the city, the outfits, the pancake breakfasts, even Family Day on the grounds (we all know how crazy that day can be)! I know many Calgarians prefer to leave the city during the craziness that is Stampede, but for those of you who remain to enjoy the festivities, I’m here to talk to you about Stampede essentials.
Over the years, my Stampede collection has definitely grown, but I still can’t help but buy a few new items each year. Blue Moon Accessories has been my go-to each Stampede season for cute pieces to spice up my Stampede look. For those of you who don’t know about this amazing product, a Stampede MUST from Blue Moon is their UV protected cowboy hats from Wallaroo, a perfect purchase for hot, sunny days at the rodeo!
I still remember when I bought my cowboy boots from Lammle’s Western Wear years ago! This year, however, it is my son’s turn to get his first pair of cowboy boots. He is so excited! His eyes were so wide when he saw the massive selection along the wall! The best part about buying a good pair of cowboy boots? They will last for years!
This past Saturday, I went to Armadio by Delia for their Stampede sale. Don’t worry, you didn’t miss it! The 10% discount on western wear will still be available for the next two Saturdays! They have a great selection of unique clothes for Stampede and carry many locally-made products. My favourite are the handmade leather waist pouches, which will be perfect for a day on the grounds or a night out!
My last Stampede essential is a great tan. I just love how a little colour really brings my outfit, cowboy boots and cowboy hat together! I always stop by California Tan for a quick spray tan for a natural-looking glow. Of course, knowing I am going to be out in the sun a lot this Stampede, I am going to stock up on my sunscreen while I’m there and make sure I get the protection I need!
